A shocking book I read on the life of a boy monk in Tibet documents rampant sexual abuse by monks that is so common that it is a lifestyle. If anyone wants to understand the reality of Tibetan Buddhism, I recommend this book:

In November 1994 an American woman known as Janice Doe filed a $10m lawsuit against the Tibetan lama Sogyal Rinpoche, charging him with sexual, mental and physical abuse. The case was dealt with out of court and Janice Doe signed a non-disclosure agreement in return for a cash settlement.
Sogyal denies allegations of abuse, but fresh evidence against him was recently aired in an investigative documentary called In the Name of Enlightenment, broadcast on Vision TV in Canada. A beautiful young woman identified as Mimi described an abusive sexual relationship. She was the first person claiming direct experience of Sogyal's exploitative attentions to go public since the 1994 lawsuit.
Sogyal (surname Lakar – Rinpoche is a title that means "precious one") is the frontman for a Tibetan Buddhist organisation called Rigpa, which has a worldwide reach with 130 centres in 41 countries. He has a bestselling book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, to his name and he starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the movie Little Buddha. Sogyal is a formidably successful guru – probably the best known Tibetan after the Dalai Lama. His trajectory into Buddhist superstardom suffered only a temporary setback following the Janice Doe lawsuit – despite the fact that lurid rumours about his sex life circulate on the internet with increasing volume and persistence.
The allegations raise a wider question: why are victims of sexual exploitation by charismatic religious leaders reluctant to denounce their abusers? In the Canadian documentary, Mimi highlights the Stockholm syndrome – a term used to describe the paradoxical reactions of individuals who bond with their abusers. "The person beating us, she says, "is also the only one giving us affection – and food and a roof over our heads."
Sociologist Amanda van Eck is deputy director of Inform, the cult information resource at the London School of Economics. She says fear is probably the main reason why women stay silent: "In some groups there has been fear of retribution," she says, "which means they don't want to speak publicly. In other cases, which may overlap with fear of retribution, they are fearful of negative consequences – damnation, of not being saved, of possession by evil spirits, of being attacked by negative forces and so on."
If the outside world has been demonised by cult leaders, Van Eck says, women may also be fearful that no one can be trusted.
Many women who have described abusive sexual relationships anonymously on internet forums refuse to come out of hiding because they want to move on, rather than relive traumatic periods in their lives. Some also feel a need to protect their families.
In my personal experience, there are two taboos in Buddhist organisations, both of which have merit and both of which can be used as manipulative tools. One of them is an injunction against gossip – useful when trying to establish a calm mental state, but also useful to prevent the circulation of critical comment.
The second is samaya – the bond of loyalty that is one of the key tenets of Tibetan Buddhism. It supports the relationship between teacher and neophyte, but it can be deployed unscrupulously as a threat – break your samaya and attract dire consequences to yourself and your loved ones.

David Atkinson MP United Kingdom - Sex Pervert
Way back in 1982 I had an internship with David Atkinson, a Conservative British Member of Parliament, while I went to classes at The London School of Economics. He gave me various research projects but seemed pretty uninterested in what I was doing until my last day. Then he suddenly acted interested in me and told me he wanted to take me to dinner for all my hard work. After dinner at a restaurant he insisted showing me his apartment. As soon as I entered I got a suspicious feeling from all the little Greek statues around. Either he was a scholar in the classics (he wasn't) or he had a real fascination with statues of Greek boys. Or he had a fascination with Greek. And boys. He insisted that I have a drink, and then another, and it became apparent he was trying to get me drunk. I told him I wanted to leave and get a taxi (by this point it was about 11PM) but he assured me no taxis were possible at that hour and that his phone wasn't working anyway (this was before cell phones). He insisted I stay over, and I thought, "well there is a couch." I went to use the bathroom and when I came out he was standing is a short, girly, silk bathrobe. I looked past him and saw he had the lights low and the sheets of his double bed pulled back. I knew it! I went to the couch and had a half-hearted sleep in my clothes ready to leap up and belt him if he touched me. At the dawn of light I left, again his insisting that I stay. I never saw him or spoke to him again. I knew he was married with kids. But, it goes to show that politicians are politicians no matter what their nationality. In his case I'd keep children away from him though - I am not anti-gay at all, just anti pervert. And that, based on my experience and in my opinion, describes David Atkinson, MP.

Abusive Nanny on the Red Line to Shady Grove - Do you Recognize Her?
On Monday, November 21, 2011 at about 2:30 PM I was on the Red Line towards Shady Grove from Union Station in Washington, D.C. Across from me was a West African nanny with a child; in my opinion she was torturing him. The child was crying so she gave him a bottle but he wasn't able to open it. She then mockingly said, "Oh, you don't want it," and put it out of his reach, laughing while he cried.
From the smile on her face it was clear to me she is evil and enjoyed emotionally torturing the child. The child then went limp as if in total despair and looked at me with pleading eyes.
It was difficult for me to know what to do - there was no physical abuse so calling the police seemed unreasonable. How does one allege emotional abuse?
Plus, even if I notified the parents, maybe they'd get angry at my intervention. And if I said something to her, would she get angry and would that terrorize the child more, or lead to more abuse?
But I know what I saw. I didn't have an iphone but maybe this sketch will help.

As I stated in an earlier post, an FBI agent told me that Etan Patz, who was kidnapped years ago in NYC, was a victim of a pedophile ring.

I don't like conspiracy theories, but a friend who I know is very well connected told me that William F. Buckley was in a pedophile ring and that substantial powers went towards covering up and protecting them.
The FBI agent in the Patz case was never able to get an investigation into the evidence he discovered.
Maybe the head of the FBI at the time was involved in a pedophile ring as well?

Tanino Liberatore
This is an all too rare painting (of Jayne Mansfield, either pastels or markers, I'm not sure) by Tanino Liberatore that shows his facility to draw women without being exploitative or abusive. Liberatore creates fantastically vibrant color schemes and always creates strong women. What is rare is for him to add personality - psychology - to his work which raises it from cheesecake (or worse) to art. Note the use of triangles in the form, from the couch to the wall colors, to the arm (I think he should have brought the right arm up a little, however to tighten the effect). All in all a reminder of why I love Liberatore's work, even when I'm so often disappointed by him.

These are from B&W by Tanino Liberatore. As I've noted in an earlier survey of his work, most of his art is unbearably immature and cheesy - ridiculous erotica which is just plain stupid. But Liberatore is a genius, there is no question. His grasp of the pen in portraying the human figure is unparalleled. The above drawings show his mastery of form through the use of light and shadow. I only wish he would raise the bar and reach further, away from the juvenile and to the sublime. Unfortunately, until he does, few will appreciate his talent because I think few who are interested in great art would venture through the slum of his other work.
Rick Womick and His Desire to Expel Muslims from the Military
A Tennessee State Senator, Rick Womick, recently declared that the U.S. military should expel all Muslims. I took the above photo some time ago - note the Crescent Moon on the headstone - a Muslim who died for our country in recent military action. Behind it, the symbol on the tombstone is the Jewish Star of David; on the tombstone in between is a cross.
This made me contemplate how individuals carry their personal faith to fight for America even while religion is often used to perpetuate the larger propaganda purposes of the State.
I sent Womick this letter after reading about his remarks:
Dear Mr. Womick- According to news reports you stated that the military should expel all Muslims. One thing you might like to know - Arlington Cemetery has buried Muslim solders who died fighting for the US in the recent Afghan and Iraq conflicts. I know this because I live in DC and visit there often and have seen the headstones that don't have a cross but a crescent moon of Islam. I presume these were patriotic Americans who were fighting for you, not against you. Your statement seems to me to betray their sacrifice to you. Thoughts?
